CHECKLIST
Before you leave Wi‑Fi
- Save your hotel address and booking confirmation as a screenshot.
- Save every train e-ticket locally on your phone. Domestic e-tickets do not currently need printing, but do not rely on your email loading at the station.
- Install Yandex Go before arrival and save the exact destination address.
- Keep a cash reserve in Uzbek soum for small businesses, markets and a card failure.
- Ask your hotel to confirm that your stay was registered.
- If you plan to use a local Uzbek SIM for a longer stay, re-check the current UZIMEI rule.
TRAIN
Train ticket emergency card
If you need to book or change plans:
Use eticket.railway.uz.
Enter passport details exactly as in the document you will travel with.
Current railway guidance lists Visa and Mastercard among accepted methods.
Search the same route again and compare other passenger trains rather than assuming the route is sold out.
Save the e-ticket on the phone itself. Do not depend on mobile data at the station.
ARRIVAL
Arrival without data
✈️ Tashkent airport
Taxi or Yandex Go is usually simplest. If the app cannot connect, use an official taxi desk / marked pickup and confirm the fare first.
📍 Hotel address
Keep the address as a screenshot. A map pin is useful online; written text is useful when it is not.
💵 Cash backup
Have enough soum for the first ride, food and one unexpected card failure.
📱 Phone & IMEI — remember the distinction
Foreign-SIM roaming and a local Uzbek SIM are treated differently. Current UZIMEI guidance says a device used with a local operator SIM should be registered within 30 calendar days. Short trips may end before that window, but check the official rule before a longer stay.
🏨 Hotel registration
Tourist accommodation registration still matters. Hotels normally handle it for guests. If you stay privately, do not assume the same process happens automatically.
MONEY
Money card
- Local currency: Uzbek soum (UZS).
- Cards are increasingly useful in cities, but cash still matters.
- USD/EUR are useful for exchange, not a replacement for soum in everyday spending.
- A practical backup is enough cash for one day of food, local transport and a card failure.
